One of the worst habits you can have is to be a perfectionist. Perfectionism, in case you have yet to realize, is the mother of procrastination, or putting off an often important task for some other time, and that is a disgusting habit that makes a lot of people, myself included, regurgitate.
The basis for procrastination is the fear that we will not do something properly so we decide not to start. There is no way to fail if we do not start. For example, in the world of business, you may be tasked to work on a certain sales campaign, but you are not too confident in its success - you think that the inevitable end product would be failure. Unfortunately, this way of thinking is purely black and white - either you achieve perfection or crash and burn.
The world is such a peculiar place, believe me, yet our Creator made it in such a way that only He Himself is perfect - trying to be the same only sets you up for a bigger chance of not succeeding.
Furthermore, aiming too high and aiming for perfection causes copious amounts of stress due to the pressure involved. This stress is so strong that being happy is almost impossible. If you still think that is not enough evidence of the hidden filth behind perfectionism, then check this out - you will find yourself more and more pressured to fulfill OTHER PEOPLE'S EXPECTATIONS. So much so that the perfectionist thinking holds them back from ever being able to break any old habits and being able to create the change they desire.
If you are a perfectionist, then it is not too late to change. Regardless of your beliefs, remember that the only perfect thing or being out there is the one who put us in this earth through our parents. You will find yourself able to start projects with out being afraid. You cannot please everybody, so put up a brave smile and please yourself first! Not think to your self "I can't do it because I know it will come out bad, No body will like it. I just can't. And please, do not adapt the habit of postponing something for the next day. These are the trademarks of a vile, robotic perfectionist. Don't fall into these traps. Hopefully you still know how to enjoy life - if not, then learn to! Do not be influenced by outside factors you do not have control over. Come on, make a change for the better! That is something you cannot put off till tomorrow - DO IT NOW!
