While affiliate marketing can be very profitable, there's a lot to learn and quite a bit of competition. Having your application to an affiliate network rejected is one of the discouraging experiences that's quite common to people starting out in this business. If you want to get accepted by affiliate networks, you have to convince them that you're knowledgeable and experienced at affiliate marketing (whether this is true or not), and the following are some ways you can achieve this.

Do Some Research: Before you apply to an affiliate network, make sure you understand the basics of what they're looking for. Since affiliate networks want you to promote their products effectively, they don't want people with no experience at all representing their companies. In order to reassure the managers at these networks, you should be able to convince them that you at least know the basics when it comes to affiliate marketing. Aside from having to fill out a form when you apply to a network, you may be interviewed on the phone as well. You want to be able to convince the person who reviews your application or interviews you that you're qualified. If you need help, spend a few hours reading articles and visiting forums dedicated to affiliate marketing.

Give Them a Valid Phone Number: In order to be accepted into most networks, the manager will first want to call you to make sure you've given them a real phone number. In order to get accepted into most companies that are CPA oriented, you'll have to answer a phone call. This is why you should be prepared to answer the phone when they call you. If you can, get a separate phone for your business, so that there isn't any interference when the network calls you up. In the event that you don't pick up when they call, make sure you have a businesslike voice mail or answering machine setup. Be ready to answer calls from affiliate networks in a polished and self-confident manner. So you should recognize that you may be interviewed over the phone, and it's really not that big of a deal.

The Location of Your Traffic: Affiliate managers will be interested to know what part of the world you get your traffic from, as this affects your results. This is sort of a trick question, as affiliate networks almost always prefer US based traffic. If you live in North America, you have an advantage here; if not, you may have to work a little harder to convince them that you can get the kind of traffic they want. You can still get accepted if you live elsewhere, but make sure you tell the manager that you have ways to get US based traffic. Affiliate managers want to know that you have effective ways of getting the kind of traffic they want, so be prepared with some well thought out ideas.

You can't overlook the importance of getting accepted by affiliate networks, as until this happens, you can't start promoting anything. Go ahead and start applying what you've learned in the above article to increase your chances of getting accepted.
