A few years ago, one of my teachers gave us a Holiday Pep Talk before we left class and put forth a few pieces of information that I never forgot.
The words he spoke were impactful and really changed how I looked at life.
He told us that we must "accept our condition."
What do I mean by this?
He meant to accept exactly where you are right now in your life and understand how you got that.
To take it a few steps further, it means that you truly have to look into all areas of your life and understand why they are how they are - relationships, money, job, body etc.
Not as you want them to be.
Why is it so important to do this?
It becomes the foundation for the life that you want to build.
It allows you to accept your current condition which is probably the most important parts of the goal setting process.
If you can accept where you are right now and accept that everything you've chosen in the past has led you right to this point, you will be on your way to creating a completely new life.
So how do you actually go through the process of auditing your life?
My favorite way of doing this is getting on a huge chalkboard and drawing the whole thing out in terms of, "Where am I now?"
When you go through this process it really gives you great visual experience of what's going on in your life and how you need to reorganize everything.
You give yourself the chance to really see the landscape and then start creating your future one step at a time.
Understand what your vision is for the future and then work backwards from the end to what you have going on in your life right now.
Do this step by step and it will help you create a fantastic battle plan.
What's the last piece of all of this? Write down everything you need to know and everything you have to engage in to accomplish this end goal.
That what you need to know list should be a hell of a lot longer than the what you know list.
So take some time to understand the landscape and begin to invest in yourself so you can start to move forward in this life.
Know that this is only the beginning and the best is coming your way.
This process is pure magic.
