Facebook and Twitter have become the new Yellow Pages. It's amazing how society has changed over several years society changed from only being about to spin a dial and contact your friends. In the modern day within a click of a button it only takes seconds the world can see what ever they are looking for. Newsfeeds from Twitter update all friends about all the hot gossip.

People between age groups of early teens to late thirties are all associated with Facebook or Twitter. Not only individuals are involved in this social media, now major companies such as Wal-Martadvertise and market with other major companies to build their company larger. Also colleges now advertise to reach out to high school students to attend their college. People can "Like" them or "Follow" Hofstra University to keep informed about school events.

Not only is it about companies in this cyber society. Celebrities now update friends about their latest songs if they are a singer. Even the rich and famous are updating about their love life and other random information. crazy fans live for this.

Local restaurants offer coupons for whom ever is following them. For example Curves fitness center may offer "Get one year free if you follow us on Facebook!"

Those are the basics of Social Media and Facebook. To every pro there is a con. The negative idea to these cyber societies to that more or less the young generation has a habit to post inappropriate post about themselves that can affect their future. If a company wants to hire you or a school wants to accept your application the first thing they will do it check out your social media pages. They don't want people to represent them who are party animals. Be aware of what you say about yourself.
